A personal comparison of PES and FIFA, from childhood favorites like FIFA 07 and PES 2013 to how FIFA pulled ahead in licensing, graphics, and popularity.

The first football game I played as a child was FIFA. I started with FIFA 07. At that time, my favorite team was Chelsea FC. The squad, featuring players such as Essien, Ashley Cole, Drogba, and Lampard, was incredibly strong. That is why FIFA 07 has a special place in my memory.

During those years, PES was also very popular. PES 2013 was especially considered one of the best games in the series. In this article, I will compare PES and FIFA mainly from my personal point of view.

The PES Era: Gameplay Over Licenses

Until 2013, I preferred PES because of its gameplay and the enjoyment it provided. The player movements felt smoother, and the matches seemed more natural. However, PES had one major disadvantage. It did not have as many leagues and licensed teams as FIFA. As a result, some major clubs did not appear with their real names and logos.

Despite this, PES offered a strong gameplay experience. The game's soundtrack also left a lasting impression on me. In particular, the song "Ai Se Eu Te Pego" made the PES 2013 era even more memorable for me.

FIFA's Rise After 2013

After 2013, I think FIFA became more popular. EA Sports improved the gameplay and graphics every year. Over time, FIFA became more realistic. Its licensed leagues, clubs, players, and wide range of game modes were also among its biggest advantages.

PES struggled to compete with FIFA during this period. The series was later renamed eFootball. However, this change was not enough to restore PES to its former popularity.

Graphics and Player Models

The comparison article expresses a similar opinion. According to the article [1], both games have impressive graphics, but FIFA is ahead of PES in terms of player models, facial details, and overall visual quality. PES also offers good graphics, but its lack of licenses and less detailed player models are considered some of its weaknesses.
